The Berkshires are full of unique nature trails that fail to receive the same kind of visitor attention as the Appalachian Trail or Monument Mountain. Here I have highlighted only a fraction of these terrific gems.

Pfeiffer Arboretum in Great Barrington, MA
Pfeiffer Arboretum is a 40-acre nature preserve nestled on Long Pond in Great Barrington, MA.
The trail is accessible from Long Pond rd. approximately 3/4 of a mile from Division St.
The preserve consists of a loop trail, including a boardwalk and observation playform overlooking the lake. (1/2- 3/4 mile) The hike is a brisk, flat, easy stroll through woodlands. Perfect for a lunchbreak hike or other impromptu excursion.
A gentle trail through mixed woodlands with great tree diversity and a priceless view of Long Pond, midway. The trail features a natural trail bed (easier to maintain) with modest elevation change throughout and a bog bridging in wet areas.
It is a lovely place for a short hike, some bird watching or simply a stroll through the woods.
The preserve is owned and maintained by the G.B. Land Conservancy
The loop trail took 20 minutes to hike, however if you'd like to walk to the platfom overlooking pristine Long Pond, allow yourself 45 minutes to an hour.
